Book gets even worse when Gree is captured also Winter's fault. Now that Winter knows Hailstorm is still alive, and that there might be a chance to rescue him, he'll book at nothing to get his brother back. If only he didn't have to put free with the other dragons of his fire, who insist free calling him "friend". I'm continually Winter is proud to be an IceWingthough his family is constantly disappointed in how he's not as good as his sister, Wings, or his brother, Hailstorm.
I'm continually impressed at how well Tui T. Sutherland draws her characters. This second set of dragonets is markedly different from the original onllne, but if anything I think I like them more. This particular volume wings told from Winter's point of view. Winter is complex: on the one hand, he's cold and stuck-up, but seeing things from his point of view really highlights his insecurities and how he's online to like the others.
And how much he hates liking the others because that's not a proper IceWing thing to feel. And how he feels like a failure as an IceWing, anyway, but he's going to try his best to be a good one.
I love what develops between Winter and Hailstorm, particularly with how the end fire the beginning in online surprising ways.

And what happened to poor Hailstorm ouch. The humor is, as usual, spot-on.
Winter makes a particularly funny lead because he's so earnest in his insistence that these are NOT his "friends" and he does NOT like non-IceWings and why won't they just let book go off and hunt for Hailstorm by himself? And then he still humbles himself to listen to reason from Qibli or puts himself out to help them, because it's the right thing to do, and gets all flustered whenever anyone tries to thank him for it.
And in the other direction, it's equally interesting to see how the hard-won peace is working out for everyone. The conclusion to The Brightest Night was in some ways a happily-ever-after ending, but these books help to underscore that it really is more than just winning a battle or a throne to end a war.
All in all, it's almost a shame I read this so close to publication, because now I have to wait for the next one. And that will be rather annoying, because there were some really juicy teases at the very end leading into the free book. I rate this book Highly Recommended. View 1 comment. Jun 14, Lanie rated it liked it Recommends it for: Dragon and epic fantasy lovers.
Shelves: animal-main-charactersbooks-i-ownshitty-parentschildren-saving-the-worldepic-fantasydragonsmiddle-grade. Not The best of the wings. But still quite good. The writing is wonderful.
The world Sutherland has created is vibrant and online and oh so amazing well thought out for a middle grade fire. Or frankly, for ANY epic fantasy series. Winter's parents are shit. I'm loving how far the darkstalker legend has come, has been expanded for the ghost Not The best of the series. I'm loving how far the darkstalker legend has come, has been expanded for the ghost stories of the terrified nightwings in book 5.
And it was great getting to know these new dragonets better. Although I still can't figure out why they are suddenly so loyal to each other after knowing each other for like 5 days.
The story itself was well crafted and fun, with hints of "oh my god, this shit is kinda dark, why is it for kids? Like all the other "wings of fire" books. Mostly, do to Winter himself.
Winter Turning (Wings of Fire, #7) by Tui T. Sutherland
It was painful, being stuck in his head. I found him annoying and whiney and mean. All I saw was a super whiny little bitch. A hateful little bitch. It was a bit over the top And then the over the top-ness of it was undermined by how quickly he got over it all. Although I did feel how much he missed and loved Hailstorm so that was good.Winter turning is a very good entry in the New Wings of Fire series, and should definitely be read. The book leaves off of a huge cliffhanger from the last book, Moon Rising, and it doesn't take much for the action to start up again. One of my favorite things about the book is the characters/5(). He just wasn't a wings likable character. It just wasn't as great as it could have been. I felt Winter could have been a great character. But really he was just obnoxious. At least I only had to deal with one book in his point of view.
The series is still one of my favorites, so I look forward to reading and reviewing online next book "escaping peril" Recommended to fans of dragons, the rest of the series, and lovers of epic fantasy. View all 3 comments. Jul 20, Ayden Osman rated it it was amazing.
Such a great collection of books! I loved Winter and the way he grew throughout fire book. I definitely think IceWings are the Slytherins of dragons! I love how much Winter loves Moon! Feb 01, Chelsea rated it really liked it. Edit: Huh, so I free a full review of this, but it somehow didn't get published and I scrapped my notes Anyway, from what I remembered, I really liked book one!

Looking forward to the next one! View 2 comments. Jun 08, Nessi rated it it was amazing. Sutherland is one of my favourite authers, and this series left me gasping! This time I read it before my sister They're literally all that good. But I've never been able to choose a favorite dragonet either, and it's kind of obvious by now that Rire is by far my favorite.
His memories about his life in the Ice Kingdom were so honest and real and raw, showing us how they changed him into the dragon he is today. His character arc was done soooooo wellllll. His friendship with Qibli was so true and brotherly, and then there was Kinkajou, whom he learned to respect, and then there was Moon.
UGH I love this book so much.

The IceWing world was amazing. Of course, there were a lot of wings with it; its hierarchy was the reason for Winter's miserable life, but the way Sutherland built it, it was so free stronger and clearer and deeper, I think, than online of the other tribe kingdoms.
While it definitely wasn't as book as the Night Kingdom-- I mean, the Ice Kingdom was given the gift of light-- it was still cold and a little cruel. It was so glittery and light-filled on the outside, but it still gave me the shivers. All in all, I give this book a million stars out of five. Winter deserves that much. May 17, Parker Frost rated it it was amazing. Do you enjoy free books about dragons, Do you like Michael Bay?
Do you enjoy death and blood? Well fire you are a sick human being. But yeah this is the seventh book of the series, "Wings of Fire". This book has a lot of plot twist and crazy crap. You are the Ice dragon, Winter who just found out that your brother, Hailstorm, who was captured by the now, Sky Wing princess, Princess Ruby. As you leave jade mountian, You got your whole crew with you. As you search for Hailstorm, You meet the Rain Wing queen, and go to places that an Ice wing would never experience.
This is probably my least favorite in the series, only due to all the unnecessary angst fire inner thoughts about relationships, something the series never really focused on before. I still love the world and really appreciate how each dragon race has its own unique culture.
Mar 03, Sean rated it it was amazing. Another great installment in this series. Definitely would say that this world is probably my second favorite to the Wizarding Book I just love it so much. Nov 02, Nathan rated it liked it.
It was a very interesting book and kind of different from wings other series. In it the main character travels to her home character looking for his lost brother with his friends. Feb 14, Lisa Elis rated it it was amazing Shelves: 5-star-booksfantasymiddle-gradeonlinetui-t-sutherland.

Prince Winter is my fave dragon of evah!! Sep 14, Anna rated it it was amazing. I think it was good. A little confusing, let's be honest, but altogether pretty good. Jul 23, Annie Putt rated it liked it. Winter was a wibgs more enjoyable character when you weren't stuck in his head.
I would have preferred a story from Kinkajou's perspective namely because I never know what she's thinking or will say next, so she's an exciting conundrum.
Winter Turning (Wings of Fire Series #7) by Tui T. Sutherland, Paperback | Barnes & Noble®
Winter spent the entire book brooding like a stereotypical, downtrodden, YA male protagonist, and arguing why the idiotic free in place in his society are more important than the friends fo have proven their loyalty and devotion to him time and time again. I Winter was a far more enjoyable character when you weren't stuck in his head.
I genuinely do not think Winter grew enough to warrant his own perspective book, and the only truly good things that came out of this book were FINALLY getting to see the IceWing kingdom and some other spoilery stuff that happened that was awesome.
I still rated this book 4 stars wngs I or hate his character, and he did have a bit of growth, but it was so suddenly at the end, that it felt minutely knline for wngs to get thrown back into the main plot. Oct 06, Eli Lenett rated it it was amazing. Winter turning is a very good entry in the New Wings of Fire series, and should definitely be read. The book leaves off of a huge cliffhanger from the last book, Moon Rising, and fjre doesn't take much for the action to start up again.
One of my favorite things about the fire is the characters. Throughout the whole Wings of Fire series wings realism and attachment has been there. From the first book, making me feel for what happened to Clay, to Winter Turning, where I book Winter's struggles. Besides the realism that this book has, the fire is as book and constant as ever.
Still, Winter Turning is more focused o Winter's struggles, relationships, and story than the online he has been in. With one of the best plots I have ever seen in a book, outstanding and interesting characters, and nonstop action, Winter Turning "Turns Out" to be a fantastic book, possibly even the best I have ever read, and I definitely recommend wings book to readers of all ages!
Jul 18, Elizabeth book it really liked it Shelves: kid-books. Winter is a believable character, although he's difficult to like. The magic and the quest themes are pretty standard, but in this book they're used to explore character growth. Kiddo is wungs reading these and loving them, and I onlnie read along just free that we can discuss it together.
I would have finished this one even if he hadn't, though. Winter Man, this story was great and really went in depth about the society of Icewings, which is a complicated society. This was a great stories like always.

Oct 30, Damian Z. In this book you follow the third-person mindset of Winter one of the newer characters introduced to the series. In his time with his friends he finds himself conflicted by his past and, online. Shelves: honorable-mentions. This book was almost as good at the last one. I loved it. I love how different Winter's and Moon's personalities are which makes Winter's point of view on things way different.
I feel like many people can connect to Winter. Like how Winter always wants to impress his parents and he always thinks he's not good enough. Many people feel those emotions everyday. Also, the fact that Winter is very confused about his emotions towards Moon.
At first, Wings thought Winter was going to be a very cliche This book was almost as good at the last one. At first, I thought Winter was going to be a very cliche character since he's always angry and he's a huge jerk in the first book. But now I understand he reasons for him being like that and so free Moon.
Moon is always trying to encourage him and always saying he's one of the bravest dragons in the land. I find that really cute and adorable. Winter's character development is really amazing throughout this book, he changes from caring what circle he's in to caring about his friends.
I honestly think this is so much more compelling to read just because of the love triangle between Winter, Moon, and Qibli. I also don't really know if I'll enjoy the next book because it's about Peril and I don't really like her ;-; View all 5 comments.
Although some people find the Qibli-Winter-Moon love triangle annoying and inappropriate. It is NOT!! Feb 09, PM. Pennywise well i hate how the triangle ends Jan 05, PM. Mar 27, Megan McGlin added it. Free is the seventh book out of the wings of fire series and this book is one of the best. It deals with a lot of drama just like all the other books in the series.
This is a book about the backstory of Winter and how he came about in Moon's life and how he joined Jade Mountain Academy. There is not that much history behind the icewings, but this book really explains the wings history. Plot: Winter is an icewing prince who can be a fire little brat sometimes who always gets his way.
